The wooden panels that make up this birdhouse are 1.8cm in thickness, giving the nest box a pleasing solidity that justifies its premium name and offering insulation to those sheltering inside. The front panel is held in place by a metal turning screw; this can be easily released by hand, allowing the hinged panel to flap forward, which in turn allows easy access for cleaning the box.
